Militants kidnaps 28 Oil workers in Cross River

A notorious militant group over the week kidnapped 28 oil company workers over the weekend in Cross River state.
The victims, who are employees of Sinopec, an oil services company in neighbouring Akwa Ibom State, were kidnapped by a militant group, Lactop Marine Force, operating in the Bakassi axis of the state.
They were said to be on their way to a Shell location in the Atlantic when the militants struck.
However, rescue came their way less than 24 hours after the abduction.
Investigations by Sunday Sun revealed that they were later rescued by the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Pulo Shield, in collaboration with the Eastern Naval Command, Calabar, Cross River State.

It was also gathered that the militant group abducted the oil workers following their employer’s failure to abide by the terms of agreement with the group on the provision of security to the oil firm early last year.
Confirming the abduction of the workers on telephone, spokesperson of Lactop Marine Force, Samuel Okoye, said: “We arrested the workers because their company reneged on earlier agreement that we should still provide security even as they have relocated to Uruan in Akwa Ibom State.
“But shortly after they moved down there, they turned their back on us.
“So, we had to strike to force them to do something.”
Okoye explained the reason behind the group’s action: “While at Ikang, Bakassi Local Government Area, they paid us to guard them and escort their workers whenever they went for oil exploration and services and when they left Ikang in October last year, for Uruan, they dumped us as if we are nobody.
“Even when we tried to talk to them on the issue, they bluffed us.
“So, it is a lesson to them to be wary of their activities.
“We are not after oil workers at the sea.
“We are after the Cameroon gendarmes, who have been terrorizing Nigerians on our waters.
“There are several companies operating on the sea and we have never arrested any of them except those who violate our terms.”
However, acting on a tip-off, the JTF launched an attack on the militants’ camp yesterday and rescued the kidnapped workers.

The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Olufemi Ogunjimi, who briefed newsmen in Calabar, said the JTF raided the militant group’s hideout in the early hours of the day, adding that the group allegedly killed a naval officer and three ratings.
Ogunjimi said the militants also carried out activities that dented Nigeria’s image at the Ikang and eastern water ways
Describing members of the group as criminals, who had nothing to do with the agitation for the reclaiming of Bakassi, which was ceded to Cameroon by the International Court of Justice, he said, “They are the type of people that give the country very bad image.
“That is how far we have gone and the operation continues and in no distant time we will get through with them.”

The FOC described Lactop, the leader of the group, as a criminal that heads a gang that kidnaps for ransom, engages in piracy and killing of innocent people, including uniformed personnel.
The Commander of JTF, Major General Johnson Ochoga, said they had been on the operation to flush out the gang in the last three days and that they were given the opportunity to denounce their criminal activities, but they did not embrace the offer before the JTF closed in on the camp.
Ochoga said there was no casualty when JTF struck, though Lactop and his gang might have suspected that the security operatives were on their trail.
He said one of the 28 persons abducted, out of panic when the troop approached the camp, ran away and that his whereabouts had not been known.
Also speaking, the Brigade Commander, 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Calabar, Brigadier General Shehu Yusuf, whose men were in charge of the land operation, said no life was lost.
Yusuf said Lactop would not be harmed if he surrendered himself.

She happened to be the only daughter of Retired Major General Osokogu and also a post-graduate student of Nasarawa State University and  was a clothing retailer.

It was gathered that she was been invited to lagos by her new friends she met on facebook who volunteered to pay her flight to lagos as well as her accomodation when she comes into lagos.

At the hotel, they tied her up, robbed her of all the money she brought to shop for her business and strangled her to death. They then left the hotel and quickly deleted her from their facebook friend list to remove any trace of their connection.

The hotel found her body and since her ID cards and mobile phone had been stolen, they could not identify her or call friends and family. Her body was deposited in a morgue in Lagos. All this time, her family and friends were praying for her safe return.

It was learnt that attempts by family members to ascertain her whereabouts were made more difficult because none of them lived in Lagos.

Lightning strikes 13 dead inside a Mosque

DHAKA (AFP) – At least 13 Muslim worshippers were killed and 15 hurt when lightning struck a mosque in a remote village in northeast Bangladesh as they held special Ramadan prayers, police said on Saturday.

The imam was among those instantly killed when a lightning bolt hit the tin-and-thatch building at Saraswatipur village, about 200 kilometres (125 miles) from the capital Dhaka, late on Friday.

The lightning appeared to “electrify” the mosque after hitting a rooftop microphone being run on power from a car battery, local council member Abul Kalam told AFP by telephone.

About 35 people from the village in the lake district of Sunamganj were holding prayers known as taraweeh — offered during the holy fasting month of Ramadan — at the time, police chief Bayes Alam said.

“All 13, including the imam, died on the spot. The bodies and faces of some of the victims were burnt,” Alam told AFP, adding six of the injured were hospitalised.

FIVE Nigerian athletes in OLYMPIC SEMIFINALS

Not even an Olympic race could change the smiling face of Regina George. She is always smiling. It is in her character to do so. And five meters to the end of her heat in the 400m event here today  in the London Olympics, the US-based Nigerian runner was smiling. It was her first time in the Olympics and being in front drew smile out of her face. She ran 51.24 seconds to win her heat that included Rushia’s Gushchina Yulia who ran 51.54 to place second and Wesh Marlene of Haiti was third with 51.98.
George qualified for the semi-final that will be run tomorrow. She kept on smiling while she spoke to the media at the Mixed Zone and when a journalist asked her if it was not strange smiling while running she said it was part of her to always do so. She was happy winning the race but admitted being nervous initially. “It feels good to win your heat in the Olympics,” she said, smiling.
“It was competitive. I was nervous but I realised it was just another race and I kicked. When I found myself leading I was confused as I couldn’t imagine I would be doing so. But I kept on pumping till the end. I now feel I can make it to the final where it will be anybody’s race. I won’t feel that way again. Now I feel I can be in the top three.” Well spoken.
The 400m race has home girl Christie Ohuruogu who is the Olympic champion, Sanya Richards of USA and Montsho Amante of Botswana who are all hot this season. They are favoured for medals here.
Regina George
“Regina George has to run a faster race, she has to run her Personal Best to be in the final,” Pat Itanyi called on phone from USA to say while wishing the athletes well. “My money is on Sanya Richards and Montsho. I’m not sure Ohuruogu will place among the top three,” she said.
Omolara Omotosho placed fourth in her heat and was emotional when she stepped into the Mixed Zone, limping. Her eyes were heavy and she could not utter a word as she struggled to hold back tears. She felt that she was out in the first round. But when results were compiled, her 52.11 seconds qualified her for the semi-final.
Regina George says that if she gets to the final anything can happen. That’s true and the same way Amaechi Morten felt after his 400m Hurdles race. He placed third with 49.34 seconds to qualify for the semi-final although he slowed down towards the finish line.
Amaechi has run sub 49 seconds this season. He hit a hurdle at the last curve and this affected his strides. But he said he would run better in the semi-final. “The way I ran wasn’t what I expected. When I hit that hurdle I lost momentum.   But I’m feeling good and will run a better race in the next round.”
Whatever happens, track and field has lifted Nigeria here. Three out of the four athletes who competed in the morning events today are in the semi-finals. The other athletes from other sports never got this far. Osasuwa Uhuoma who is the next athlete is competing in the Heptathlon event which is still on although she was sevent in the 100m Hurdles.
“I have been in pains since this week. I have pains in my groin and I’m not just feeling good,” she said at the Mixed Zone, actually looking downcast. Athletics Federation chairman Solomon Ogba had promised to personally reward athletes who get to the semi-final and final evets here. Three did so in the morning and Blessing Okagbare has a race later tonight.
Meanwhile Blessing Okagbare  and Gloria Asunmu later made the night more memorable as they both qualified for the semis.Okagbare  ran the second fastest time of 10.93.

TRAGIC!!!! Young boy commits suicide for being accussed of stealing 2000pounds

Corper Estate residence in Dawaki Abuja experienced a horrible scene on Friday morning when a 22 year old boy who was identified as Solo committed suicide for being accused of stealing 2,000 pounds belonging to a tenant who lives in the compound solo worked as a security man.
The spirit of death trapped Solo on Friday morning when the tenant whose 2,000 pounds was stolen confronted the deceased for stealing the money. Solo was confronted based on the local investigation carried out within the compound.  During the confrontation, Solo had insisted that he had no knowledge of the missing money. The tenant who left the house angrily had threatened to get the deceased arrested for questioning.
Solo who had boasted that he was not bothered about the tenant’s threat later hung himself in his room around 10 am of the same day.
Eyewitness account narrated that Solo had made frantic calls to his family members in Kaduna shortly before he hung himself.  Another security man who works in the same estate had narrated that Solo who was brought in by one of the agents who supervises the Estate had expressed great anger over the allegation of theft leveled against him before he died.
According to Julius “ I have never seen Solo in that mood before, however, his anger subsided after we started chatting outside the gate, suddenly he went inside and later came outside with N200, asking me to get call card for him from a nearby vendor, that he got his airtime exhausted while talking to some relatives. I went and got him the call card, and waited outside for him to join me, but he never did. When my brother came out and was looking for him, we had to go to his door, and when we looked through the window, we discovered he was standing, but was not moving. That was when we forced the door open and found him dead with a big rope coiled round his neck.”
Speaking further on how he had attempted to use knife and scissors to kill himself, Julius said “we saw a knife and scissors in front of him, obviously, he must have attempted to use that on himself before he decided to hang himself”
One of the residents of the area, Mr Rabiu, also told our correspondent that the deceased was very close to his family while he was alive, but was disappointed in his action of taking his own life. He further asserted that investigation actually revealed that Solo stole the 2000 pounds, as the people through whom he deposited the money had admitted that the said amount of money was given to them for deposit.  According to Mr. Rabiu, Solo was such a quiet boy and never had problem with people while he was alive.
As at the time of this report, some policemen from the Dawaki police station have begun investigation into the matter. Also, sources close to Solo had revealed that his relatives were on their way from Kaduna, and may arrive Abuja on Friday night.

Nigeria's BasketBALL team loses to star studded US in the Olympicsteam

LONDON — The last group in England with this many records was The Beatles.

The U.S. men's Olympic basketball team beat Nigeria 156-73 Thursday night, an epic blowout that answered the Americans' detractors and sent a clear message to let them be.

After two opening routs that provoked criticism of their slow starts and outside shooting, the Americans rewrote the record books.

They led by 26 in the first quarter, had an Olympic-record 78 points in the first half and Carmelo Anthony scored 37 points, including 10 of 12 3-pointers, to break the U.S. single-game scoring record in less than three quarters.

"Our guys just couldn't miss," said coach Mike Krzyzewski.

Incredibly, they eclipsed the 100-point mark with 5 minutes still left in the third.

"When we get hot, it's a big problem," Kobe Bryant said. "So you have all these guys on one team and then all get hot on the same night, it's tough."

They broke the Olympic record for most points in a game with 4:37 still to play, and set U.S. records for 3-pointers (26), field goals (59) and field-goal percentage (71).

When Andre Iguodala hit a 3-pointer with4:37 left, the Americans had surpassed the previous Olympic record of 138 points set by Brazil against Egypt in 1988. When the record was announced to the mesmerized crowd, all the players seated on the U.S. bench got up and walked single file past Krzyzewski, slapping hands with him and his staff.

Gentlemen, take a bow.

"It was just one of them nights where as a unit we had it going," Anthony said. "It could have been anybody out on the court playing against us."

The Americans even one-upped the 1992 Dream Team. The 83-point margin of victory was the largest in U.S. national team history, eclipsing the 79-point spread when Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Co. beat Cuba 136-57 in their first game.

The U.S. seemed intent on breaking Nigeria's spirit, and when that was accomplished with ease, the Americans made a profound statement with their marksmanship.

Nigeria was the first to get the message.

"When they shoot like this, I don't know if there is any team that can beat them," said Ike Diogu, one of the Nigerians who promised not to be intimidated by the Americans.

Bryant scored 16 points – 14 in the first quarter – for the Americans, who scored 49 points in the first, left the floor leading 78-45 at half and then doubled their total in the second half.

Russell Westbrook finished with 21 points, Kevin Love 15 and Kevin Durant 14 for the U.S., which will play Lithuania on Saturday. The Americans have won their first three games with ease, but now things are expected to get a lot tougher as they approach next week's medal round.

Diogu scored 27 to lead Nigeria (1-2), which was as good as done after Durant hit a 3-pointer 11 seconds in, snapping an 0-for-14 slump by the U.S. in the first quarter in the tourney.

Bryant was mostly a non-factor in wins over France and Tunisia, playing just 21 minutes and getting into early foul trouble. But from the outset against Nigeria, the two-time Olympian nicknamed the Black Mamba was as deadly as ever. He set the tone by scoring seven quick points as the U.S. (3-0) raced to a 13-0 lead, a haymaker that stunned the Nigerians.

Durant buried three 3-pointers, Bryant and Anthony added two from long-range and when Love, the NBA's 3-point champion, came off the bench and knocked down his first 3, the U.S. team's shooting gallery of stars had opened a 41-15 lead and made the p.a. announcer's pregame comment that "anything is possible" seem prophetic.

He was talking about a possible upset. The only surprise in the first quarter was when the U.S. missed.

"We were looking forward to this game, playing against the U.S.," Diogu said. "You know we wanted to use this to show the world what type of team we are. We just came out flat, turned the ball over too many times and they made us pay every time."

After starting so sluggishly in blowout wins over France and Tunisia, the U.S. came flying out of the gates, led by Bryant.

The Americans seemed intent on breaking Nigeria's spirit, and when that was accomplished with ease, they made a profound statement with their marksmanship.

Nigeria was the first to get the message.

"When they shoot like this, I don't know if there is any team that can beat them," Diogu said.

Anthony, who made five 3-pointers in the first half, put on a shooting clinic in the third quarter. With the U.S. bench standing in anticipation every time he touched the ball on the perimeter, Anthony made all five of his attempts, punctuating one that made it 97-54 by throwing back his head, laughing and shrugging his shoulders.

He was in a zone unlike any seen before.

"It's a great accomplishment to get that record," said Anthony, who broke Stephon Marbury's scoring mark of 31 against Spain in 2004. "We did it in a very highly classy way. We went out there and we played basketball. We made shots. We make shots like that and play the way we played tonight, that record could have came on any team."

Anthony wasn't the lone sniper as the Americans made 29 of 46 3-pointers (63 percent), numbers that could stand for several more Olympiads.

Although an Olympic rookie, Nigeria, with 10 players who played college ball in the U.S., also has its share of pro experience.

Diogu, who was born in Buffalo, N.Y., after his parents emigrated from Africa, has played for eight NBA teams and Al-Farouq, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2010 draft, was traded last year by the Los Angeles Clippers to New Orleans in the deal for U.S. guard Chris Paul.

But there isn't a team in the Olympics that can match the American's celebrated roster with a combined 43 All-Star appearances, seven NBA titles and four league MVPs.

Krzyzewski gave his players the day off on Wednesday, a chance to relax and enjoy the games. Anthony and James Harden went to see boxing. Durant watched beach volleyball.

They came back rested.

And on target.

Task force apprehends 52 SEX workers in Lagos

Officials of the Lagos State Task force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit last night stormed Isaac John and Toyin Street in Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria and arrested 52 suspected commercial sex hawkers.
The task force acted on a report published in The NEWS magazine of this week about commercial sex hawkers taking over the area and that yesterday was going to be the ladies’ night.
The task force officials first of all carried out a survey of the area around 10 pm and went back to the office to strategise only to strike around 12 am and arrested the suspected prostitutes whose ages range between 18 and 34 years.
They were taken to the task force office in a Black Maria. The raid was massive as several armed policemen carried out the onslaught.
Task force Chairman, Bayo Sulaiman confirmed the arrest when contacted, saying that there had been complaints and public outcry over the invasion of commercial sex hawkers in Isaac John and Toyin Street junction where there is a popular hotel whose owner also runs a night club.
“Isaac John is where we have the Government House and it is a criminal offence to engage in harlotry by the sides of the road. The people in the area have been crying over the upsurge of prostitutes in the area and the traffic gridlock by the night club,” he said. Sulaiman stated that the hotel and its night club had been causing untold traffic menace around Toyin Junction, saying that the owner of the joints had been served notice to abate the nuisance going on in the area.
“We have told the owner to desist from obstructing traffic in the area. We will not tolerate this anymore,” he said.
Sulaiman warned that the task force would extend the raid on commercial sex hawkers to Lagos Island, Ikoyi and Victoria Island where their activities had been on the increase, while urging those still in the trade to stop it as the wrath of the law would soon catch up with them.
“The state government will no longer condone this act of prostitution. These people are bad example to the youths. We have taken their photographs and finger print individually and when we apprehend them the second time, the punishment will be severe.
“We acted based on TheNEWS magazine report that Wednesday was going to be ladies’ night. We had to wait for that time and we struck and arrested them,” he stated.
The task force boss said the arrested commercial sex hawkers would be charged to court today, saying those convicted would be punished according to the dictates of the law.
He, however, said contrary to reports that once the prostitutes were arrested, some ‘big boys’ would settle task force officials to effect their release, the task force did not take money from anybody.
“We have arraigned several of them in court in the past and we had gotten conviction on some of them. The issue of collecting money is out of it. The so-called ‘big boys’ in the club don’t settle us,” he said.

Zamfara sacks 7000 ghost workers

Following a directive by the governor as contained in a circular dated July  27, and issued by the state Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Muazu Nalado ,the commissioner quoted the governor as having said that the July salaries be paid to only workers, who were duly verified as contained in the interim report.

NAN reports that the verification committee last week uncovered more than 7,000 workers, including more than half of government house personnel as ‘ghost workers‘.

In a circular dated July 27, Nalado said that Yari had directed that payment of July salary would be predicated on the outcome of the verification committee’s work.

The circular entitled: “July 2012 salary”, had been sent to the offices of the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Secretary to the Government, Head of Service, and other relevant government organs for compliance.

The verification committee, however, ordered those workers not captured during the verification to come forward with their complaints.

Scores of workers who missed the exercise were seen at the secretariat on Wednesday scampering to sort out themselves.

The state House of Assembly passed a resolution on Friday directing the governor to rescind his decision to pay July salary to only those workers that had been verified.

The house said that since the final report had not been presented to the governor, it would be wrong to implement any portion of the committee’s recommendations.

The lawmakers also said that since those “ghost and redundant workers” had not been served with letters of termination  the government had an obligation to pay them salaries until they received their sack letters.

Six suspects narrate how they killed Oshiomole's aide

Contrary to the rumours that the killing of Gov. Oshiomhole’s aide Olaitan Oyerinde was killed by politicians in Edo State in order to ensure Oshiomhole failed in the last gubernatorial election, six suspects who carried out the operation explained their connection in the death of Oyerinde.
They were paraded by the Department of State Security Service SSS yesterday in Abuja.
Late Comrade  Olaitan Oyerinde, Principal Private Secretary to  the Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, was killed on May 4, 2012 in his residence at Ugbor GRA, Benin shortly before governor’s hard-earned
governorship election.
The suspected armbed robbers who simply gave their names as Mohammed Abdullahi, Raymond  Origbo and Chikezie Edeh who are the  three armed-robber  gang while Saidu Yakubu, Sani Abubakar and Hassan Bashiru according the deputy Director, Public Relations and the Spokesperson of the security service, Marilyn Ogar.
Speaking to newsmen, the leader of the three-man robbery gang Mohammed Abdullahi  said the security guard of late Olaitan gave out his boss by boasting to him how late Oyerinde used to bring home  large  amount of money due to his position as the governor’s aide.
He disclosed that during the operation, he personally directed his gang members to tie the security guard so as he would not see his face and they then proceeded to attack Late Oyerinde and carted away some cash, cell phones and apple Ipad.
He said: “We never had the intention of killing him. We went there just to rob him and get away. When we got there, he was relaxing in one of the seats in his sitting room with his wife and a baby in another seat.
“We commanded him to lie face down; he obeyed. We then noticed another man in the house who we also ordered to lie face down. Suddenly, the man (Oyerinde) jumped up and he was running towards his room.
“Being a big man, we thought he was going to get his gun. So, I shot him. In truth, I shot him only once. Raymond also shot him.”
Origbo (26) corroborated Abdullahi’s story with a slight variation: “We did not go there to kill him. We only went there to rob. When the man started running towards his room, I shot in the air. I did not shoot at him. It was Abdullahi that shot him. After shooting in the air, I walked back to the sitting room. It was my first operation.”
A third suspect, Chikezie (30) told a
similar story: “It was Saidu Yakubu (a.k.a Imam) that introduced me to Abdullahi who led the operation. I don’t know the big man’s gateman. It’s Abdullahi who knows him because they attend the same village meeting together.
“Before we got to the house, Abdullahi told us to blindfold the gateman so that he would not recognise him and we blindfolded him before we went upstairs. It was Abdullahi and Raymond that shot him. I did not fire any shot. We did not go there to kill him. We only went there to rob. I joined criminal gangs when I was deported from France in 2005 because my travel papers were not complete.”

One of the prime suspects in the celebrated ritual murder of two school kids of same parents in Abayioma Village near Aba, the commercial capital of Abia State. One of the two earlier arrested suspects has been charged to court. The suspect whose name was simply given as Chinedu was said to be the mastermind of the ritual murder of Prince Nwoha (6) and Kenneth Nwoha (4) who were killed inside a palm plantation on June 11, on their way to school.

Following the kids’ murder, two persons, Chibuike (who gave himself up after the incident) and Chimezie who the former implicated, were arrested.  In the cause of investigation, however, the duo pointed the finger  at Chinedu who was then at large as being in the know of what happened to the boys.

Chinedu was first taken to Umuobiakwa (Eastern Ngwa) Police Station before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia.

When contacted, the Abia State PPRO, Ezekiel Onyeike, confirmed the arrest and promised that all those arrested in connection with the incident would soon be charged to court.

Pregnant woman nabbed at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport for carrying hard drugs

An Enugu state born woman who resides in Brazil gave her name as Mbechi Obiageli Susan. She was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on her way from Sao Paulo, Brazil, by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with the aid of a scanning machine.
Mbechi claimed to be three months pregnant and during the process of profiling, she excreted 51 pellets of cocaine weighing 900 grammes.
Just like the pleads of others who were caught in the act of drugs trafficking, she was not an exemption as she also pleaded poverty as the instigator of her callous action but the chairman of the anti-narcotic agency, Ahmadu Giade, was quick to disagree with her claims on the ground that there were several other credible means of earning a living than soiling her hands in hard drugs..
He was quick to remind her that, “Poverty is far from an excuse for anybody to take to illicit drug trafficking. There are many other ways of making a living without breaching the law. Apart from offending the law, did she think about the danger inherent in ingesting hard drugs as a pregnant woman? This is why we shall continue to do our best to provide enabling environment to fight this menace that is fast assuming frightening dimension.”
While the case of Susan was still being analyzed, two other women, Ms. Obiakor Maryann Okwudili and Ms. Anene Blessing Iruoma allegedly walked into the agency’s dragnet also at the same airport with a much more larger quantity of hard drugs which later tested for Methamphetamine smartly concealed in their customized panties, brassieres and hair wigs.

Though the women tried to outwit NDLEA operatives, they were, however, betrayed by their body frisk; and that attracted the attention of airport security officials who suspected that there must be more to their gorgeous looks. Upon profiling too, the duo who hail from Nando and Igbariam in Anambra State respectively were discovered to have concealed the illicit drugs in their underwear and hair wigs.
They were both on their way to Malaysia via Cairo and attempted to board an Egypt airline flight. They too blamed poverty for their woes. The drugs weighed 4.5kgs.
Commenting on the arrest, Abuja airport commander of NDLEA, Mr. Hamisu Lawan, said he was shocked at the escalating rate of  women’s involvement in criminality especially illicit drug trafficking. Though he commended his men for their exceptional performance, he also expressed gratitude to airport security officials for their alertness and collaboration.

“The drugs were detected during routine screening of passengers. The suspects are helping narcotic officials in our investigation. I commend the level of cooperation among security agencies at the airport. I also thank the management of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, for their significant role in these arrests.
“Miss Anene Blessing hails from Igbariam in Anambra State with passport number A03660604. She was found to be wearing a customized brassier, pants and hair wig all stuffed with substances which tested positive for methamphetamine weighing 1.7kg. Ms Obiakor Maryann Okwudili, age 34, who hails from Nando in Anambra State with passport number A01444553, was apprehended on same flight with Anene. She too concealed 1.90kg of methamphetamine in under wears,” he revealed.

BOKO HARAM Issues warning again!!!

From Abu Qaqa, the spokesman of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram, came another warning yesterday, that the sect would attack any government functionaries, security agents, security informants, Christians and anyone who pretends to be a Muslim.

“We want to stress that in our struggle, we only kill government functionaries, security agents, Christians and anyone who pretends to be a Muslim but goes behind to assist security agents to arrest us,” he warned.

A statement sent to journalists in Maiduguri yesterday evening believably authored by the sect’s spokesman, Abu Qaqa, also claimed responsibility for the bomb attacks in Sokoto, Zaria and Damaturu. Bellow are excerpts from the statement:

“All praises go to Almighty Allah. This is a very important message from the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad. We wish to extend our profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for giving us the opportunity to fulfill the promise we made on launching spontaneous attacks in Sokoto. “We have reasons for all our activities and we only kill those who wronged us. We attacked Sokoto because many of our brethren have been incarcerated there.

“We are gladdened by the successes we recorded at the office of the AIG in Marina and the police divisional office at Unguwan Rogo as well as the police station at Arkila.

“We wish to reiterate that our crusade is not for personal gain; it is meant to ensure the establishment of an Islamic state by liberating all Muslims from the excesses of the infidels.  “We strongly believe that Almighty Allah will reward us with his famous paradise in the hereafter as he rightly said in Chapter 9, Verse 111 of the Holy Qur’an.

“We wish to strongly warn people to desist from collaborating with security agents. The fact is that we are the warriors of the Almighty and even the security forces are finding it difficult to contain our activities.

“We want to stress that in our struggle, we only kill government functionaries, security agents, Christians and anyone who pretends to be a Muslim but engages in assisting security agents to arrest us.

“We are also aware of the activities of some women who have been recruited to spy on us. This is a final warning to all of them. By God, whenever we catch any woman spying on us, we would slaughter her like ram.

“We are responsible for the attacks in Bauchi and at the residence of Namadi Sambo in Zaria as well as the one in Damaturu where we bombed a patrol vehicle. “We equally dealt a big blow on JTF operatives in Maiduguri who, out of frustration, went back and killed innocent and defenseless citizens.

“It is erroneous to say that we are killing Muslims. We don’t kill innocent Muslims. The fact and the bottom line of our struggle is to set the Muslims free from enslavement. We only kill the unbelievers.”
