Police officer rapes Nursing Mother taking refuge in a police Station

"Police they say is your friend" is a slogan that welcomes you as you step into any police station in Nigeria ,but the story of Mrs Maureen Anyalebechi's molestation by a police corporal with the Imo state command  proved that wrong.
The corporal  is currently in trouble for raping a nursing mother, who had gone to the station to seek refuge.
It gathered that Mrs. Maureen Anyalebechi, from Umukabi  Autonomous Community, in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, Imo State, had, on November 10, 2012, gone to Umuguma Police Station to pass the night, when she could not locate the residence of her brother in the World Bank area of Owerri West Local Government Area.
Owing to the fact that it was late in the night, Mrs. Anyalebechi went to the police station with her seven-month-old baby, where she met Corporal Chigozie Odenigbo and another female police officer.
The victim told Saturday Sun: “When I discovered that it was late  to continue searching for my brother’s place, I decided to go to the nearby police station, to beg them to accommodate me for the night because it was already late.
“As  I went in there with my baby, I met two police officers, a lady and a young man, and after explaining my situation, the male officer asked me to follow him to one officer’s house, where he claimed mosquitoes would not bite my baby and I thanked him and followed him innocently, but to my greatest surprise, the policeman pounced on me. He hit me from behind and before I knew what was happening, he snatched my baby from me and flung him away. He was holding me by the throat to stop me from shouting for help and started raping me.”
She revealed that after the police officer had satisfied himself, he helped her to her feet and also picked up her baby and took her back to the police station.  Mrs.  Anyalebechi further narrated that when they came back to the police station, the female officer was alarmed when she saw that her clothes were torn and asked Corporal Odenigbo to explain what happened to her. The corporal, she said, denied ever doing anything to her.

Mrs. Anyalebechi said that she had to report the matter to the Divisional Police Officer, when he arrived for duty in the morning, who promptly ordered the arrest and detention of Corporal Odenigbo. She told Saturday Sun that to her surprise, the policeman was released. Sensing that the police wanted to cover up the crime, she had to contact a lawyer, who took her to the Imo State Police Commissioner, Bolanta Adisa, last Friday, who summoned the DPO of Umuguma Police Station.
Saturday Sun learnt that upon the confirmation of the rape assault on the nursing mother, CP Bolanta ordered the arrest of Corporal Odenigbo, promising that thorough investigation would be carried out.
He said that if found culpable, the policeman will be prosecuted and dismissed from the Force.
Meanwhile,  the police spokesman, Mr. Vitalis Onugu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said that Corporal Odenigbo will face administrative  trial.
It was also learnt that Corporal Odenigbo was alleged to have  sexually assaulted  a female officer  some months back.

Nigeria rated second most corrupt in the world

Another heavy knock has come on Nigerian government as the newest rating on corruption indicates that the acclaimed giant of the Africa is the second most corrupt nation in the world.
The rating according to a Gallup poll shows that the rate of corruption in the country is getting out of hand.
Gallup, in its first-ever report on “Global States of Mind: New Metrics for World Leaders,” said 94 percent of Nigerians believe there is prevalent corruption in government.
The poll reveals that in the world, only Kenyans believe their government is more corrupt. About 96 percent of Kenyans said there is widespread corruption in their government while only five percent of Singaporeans said their government is corrupt.
Gallup said last year’s revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt where GDP was rising, shows that world leaders need more than just GDP and other traditional economic metrics to run their countries.
“Economic data are becoming less and less valuable because they tend to be outdated by the time they are made available. More significantly, GDP is less valuable because leaders now need to know much more than what people are spending—they need to know what they are thinking; GDP isn’t enough if you are watching for instability,” said Jim Clifton, Gallup Chairman and CEO.

Woman cuts off Rapist Manhood

A 40-year-old  woman, from Bangladesh with name Monju Begum, has reportedly cut off the penis of a man who was allegedly trying to rape her, and then took it to police as evidence.
According to police, Mozammel Haq Mazi, the suspect, whohappen to be the woman's neighbor, forced his way into her shanty and began sexually assaulting her. Investigators say Begum stopped the attack by cutting off his penis. She then placed the evidence into a polythene bag and took it into police as proof that Mazi had attempted to rape her.
Begum, a married mother of three, told the police that Mazi had been harassing her for the past six months. He is reportedly also married and has five children.
Police spokesperson, Abul Khaer, said “It is quite an unusual incident. As far as I am aware, this is the first time that a woman has brought a severed penis to the police station as evidence… We will arrest him once his condition gets better,” said Khaer.
Meanwhile, Mazi denied the allegations, telling investigators that the two were having an affair. In Mazi’s words “Recently she suggested that both of us can go settle down in Dhaka… I refused and told her that I cannot leave my wife and children, so she took revenge on me.” Doctors say the man’s pénis will not be re-attached.
