Catholic pontiff Pope Benedict XVI on Monday opened a Twitter account in English and
six other languages namely Italian, French, German, Polish, Portuguese,
Arabic and Spanish.
Without even sending a single tweet, the Catholic pontiff’s English
Twitter account recorded over 31,000 followers within one hour after it
was announced by the Vatican.
The 85-year-old pope is expected to begin tweeting on December 12, although the account was opened since February 2012.
“The first tweets will be answers to questions sent to the pope on
matters of faith. The public can start sending them starting now,” the
Vatican said.
