TRAGIC!! Young Girl robbed and killed by her Facebook friends in Lagos
As it is common in the western world, the story of Cynthia Osokogu left everyone shocked and surprised that this dastardly act actually happened within our society.
She happened to be the only daughter of Retired Major General Osokogu and also a post-graduate student of Nasarawa State University and was a clothing retailer.
It was gathered that she was been invited to lagos by her new friends she met on facebook who volunteered to pay her flight to lagos as well as her accomodation when she comes into lagos.
On the 22nd of July 2012 she flew to Lagos and was picked up by two young men from the airport in Lagos and drove her to a hotel in Festac. At the hotel, they tied her up, robbed her of all the money she brought to shop for her business and strangled her to death. They then left the hotel and quickly deleted her from their facebook friend list to remove any trace of their connection.
The hotel found her body and since her ID cards and mobile phone had been stolen, they could not identify her or call friends and family. Her body was deposited in a morgue in Lagos. All this time, her family and friends were praying for her safe return.
It was learnt that attempts by family members to ascertain her whereabouts were made more difficult because none of them lived in Lagos.
As weeks went by, concerned friends and relatives sent messages through BlackBerry device and social media about the missing girl but no information regarding her whereabouts was forthcoming.
But her corpse had been found in a mortuary. It was learnt that family and friends had thought she was missing because they did not know that she was dead.
We all need to be careful with the kind of friends we keep on the different social network, and for the girls "Not all that glitters is gold"
