Residents of Ageva community on Lokoja-Okene Road on Saturday
reportedly scooped fuel from a tanker that crashed a few kilometres from
Okene in Kogi State.
Witnesses said that as soon as the truck crashed on Saturday afternoon, fuel began gushing from its hold.
People around the area swiftly swooped on the truck, scooping fuel from the road.
Spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, Yushau Shuaibu, confirmed the incident in an SMS to PUNCH.
He confirmed that NEMA had mobilised rescue agencies to the scene of the
accident and appealed to the people around the area NEMA appeals to stay
away for their safety.
